IHG Hotels & Resorts
With a major pipeline already planned, and 50 more projects to be added that have just been validated, IHG maintains steady growth for its economy brand while it has just opened two new properties.
Less than a year after the inauguration of its first hotel in Oklahoma City, the British group is pursuing an accelerated growth strategy for its economy supply. No fewer than 180 hotels have been planned at this time, and another fifty have also been announced.
Implantations forthcoming in the United States in 2019 in Lancaster (Pennsylvania), Beaumont (Texas), à Grovetown (Georgia), Perry (Georgia), Monona (Wisconsin), Orlando (Florida), Midland (Texas), Portland (Texas) and Yukon (Oklahoma). In the rest of the world, properties should spring up in Germany, Mexico and Canada in the years to come, for a total of 180 properties that will enter the existing portfolio of the brand avid™.
Alongside pre-existing properties, two new units have entered the market: avid Oklahoma City Airport and avid Tulsa South – Medical District. These were designed to meet a need for accommodations in tense areas, with strong demand, and an offer with a value for price offer for business clientele as well as leisure clientele.
Jennifer Gribble, vice-president, avid Hotels, IHG, comments on these two newcomers: “In partnership with Champion Hotels and Hi-Tech Hospitality, we are excited to grow from one to three Avid Hotels properties now open. The impressive construction timeline is a compelling proof point of owner belief in the brand and strong consumer demand for a hotel stay that is laser-focused on the amenities and experiences that are most important, like a great night’s sleep, cleanliness and a fresh cup of coffee with a balanced breakfast offering.”
The two new hotels are operated by two distinct operators. The avid Oklahoma City Airport is managed and owned by Champion Hotels, a well-established operator on the American market. As for the avid Tulsa South – Medical District, it is operated by Hi-Tech Hospitality, and the walls are owned in partnership by Champion Hotels and Hi-Tech Hospitality.
The avid™ brand was launched just a year ago positioned in the economy segment. Today it includes three properties and strengthens the offer of IHG in these two segments alongside Holiday Inn Express.
