Coveted lavender flowers in spring
The blooms on this prized shrub can be so dense that they hide all of the leaves in spring.
Indispensable in shade gardens and places with more acidic soil
Karen Azalea is an extremely reliable and surprisingly hardy flowering shrub. For a few weeks every spring it puts on a jaw-dropping flower show, and the thick evergreen leaves keep their deep green till fall, when they turn rich burgundy.
Plant a pair to frame a shaded entry walk or a bunch to fill in under your shade tree where other plants struggle. Bonus? Butterflies and hummingbirds love it!
Heads up! Don’t plant near trees in the walnut family. This plant is sensitive to juglone, a compound walnut trees produce that makes it hard for other plants to grow around them.
Safety first. Toxic to pets and kids if ingested.
