An evergreen conifer (i.e., “cone-bearer”), Globosa Nana Cryptomeria stays small and attractive without any need to prune or fuss over it. It stays soft green most of the year, with cooler temps bringing out a rusty-red sheen to its thin needles.
This disease- and deer-resistant shrub loves wet spots and sunshine, though it does fine in part shade. It performs well in containers, too—if watered adequately—and it’s a staple of zen gardens.
